Well, I shouldn’t be disappointed that I didn’t hit two-three-something on the scale today, but I am. I actually woke up around 5, weighed, back to bed. Then woke up around 6:30, weighed, back to bed, and finally at 7:30, woke up, weighed and recorded. Still in the 240s, but so close! And, this is my lowest weight to date, so I need to quit my whining! Check out my nearly year on year progress (6 more days for it to be exactly 1 year):

Nearly 30 pounds lost! That is insane! I know some people lose more than that in a year, but I laid out a plan for my size months ago, and I have not missed the schedule yet (knock on wood!). And look at my waist! over 7″ gone. GONE.
GONE.
Though I am so proud of myself, I find myself asking, “Couldn’t I have done more? Lost more weight? Eaten less? Worked out more?” But, I really need to push those feelings aside and congratulate myself on progress to date, and for sticking to my schedule.
Way to go! This is crazy – I started on 6/15 last year, too and to date have lost 30.
I am a firm believer in the the downward trend. I need to do a post on it. It’s what matters most. And I know, too, people lose more weight than that, but don’t you think our habits that we are slowly changing are more likely to stick rather than if we tried to do some strict diet and then try to go back to “normal” living when done? That’s why I always say that I’m not really on a diet.
I also love how you tracked all of the other measurements! Kudos to you for that. Those are some great things to see!
Congratulations!!! Cheers~
Carrie,
I completely agree with what you said about slow weight loss. I think there are statistics that say people who lose the weight slowly are more likely to keep it off than those that don’t. It’s my personal opinion that the “sprint” method to weight loss will not work for me because it’s far too easy to go back to normal habits.
You and I are slowly changing our habits. I don’t know about you, but my meals have gotten smaller and smaller, I have given up diet soda, started taking more fiber, etc. etc. Not only have I built healthier habits over time, but I didn’t shock my body doing it.
I would really like to lose 50 pounds over the next year. I hope that with lessons learned in the past year, and keeping up with these new habits, 50lbs is possible. My ultimate goal is a size 8 by the end of 2013, which seems soooo far away and impossible at times, but as long as I keep up with my goals to drop 1 size every 4 months, I will be there.
Great post!
I’ve been struggling lately because I feel like I’m not losing ‘enough’. Back December-ish I weighed at 279 and today I weighed in at 257.5. As much as I’d love to weigh less, 257 is way better than 279! There’s a lot to say about “slow and steady”
Congrats on your success so far!
Bailey! Congrats to us both! We have lost more than half a pound per week. Let’s keep it up and see you in a year!
Great job! I’m coming up on my one year anniversary of hitting onederland, and am still bouncing around the 190s. It’s been very hard after losing a lot of weight very fast. I need to focus on small, steady losses – all progress in the right direction is a success, no matter how much time it takes!
Slow and steady finishes the race, right?
FANTASTIC! You’re right to be proud of your progress — 30 lbs in a year is not only impressive, but you did it the HEALTHY way. Congrats, and may you keep seeing the results you deserve
Thanks, Mer!
